A record that begins with one grain
The Lab is interested in more than the reputation of a regional speciality. We want to understand the environment in which yulmu is grown, the experience of its growers, the processes of sorting and milling, and the ways in which the crop has been used locally.
Public information and field records together reveal how yulmu is grown and processed. Any exploration of food, beauty, fragrance, household products, or design content should proceed with producer and research-partner consent and with the relevant safety and legal review.
Four questions to answer before publishing numbers
- Where: document the cultivation area and growing conditions with maps and authorised field images.
- Who: record seasonal work through producer interviews conducted with informed consent.
- How: trace sorting, processing, and distribution before describing the ingredient.
- For what use: review applicable law and safety requirements before beginning a small experiment.
The archive grows with field knowledge
Seasonal conditions, growers’ experience, ingredient quality, and processing methods cannot be understood from documents alone. Yeoncheon Yulmu Lab connects public sources with field records and continues to deepen the story of Yeoncheon yulmu.
